Mail Delivery May be Affected by Hurricane Dorian

Written by Midwest Direct

September 5, 2019, 9:09 am — As Hurricane Dorian moves further northward, trucking companies are holding services to the impacted areas in order to protect the mail. There have also been mandatory evacuations that have closed and continue to close post offices. We are working closely with our transportation companies and monitoring affected areas.

What To Do:

  • Monitor the USPS Service Alerts for the most up to date information on USPS closures.
  • Check your email frequently for any new updates from Midwest Direct.
  • Contact Mandy Gebbie Clayton, mgebbie@mw-direct.com for any additional information.

September 3, 2019, 3:55 pm — Hurricane Dorian started to move northward toward the U.S. Tuesday morning, September 3rd, causing limited delivery into Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Delays of 24-72 hours are to be expected for shipments going to, from or through the affected areas. Weather forecasters project the storm will continue to gather intensity throughout the week.

We are still delivering to the panhandle destinations of Florida at this time, and expect a 48-72 hour delivery delay on all Florida destinations outside of these locations.

The Postal Service continues to monitor conditions for the safety of its employees and the security of mail and has closed the following plants due to the storm. Please visit the link below for the most up to date information on USPS closures.
